Challah at Whole Foods, Cheltenham

Challah will be baked on site at The Whole Food Market on Tewkesbury Road, Cheltenham each Friday.

The Man in charge of the Bakery at the Whole Foods Market used to work for a Kosher Bakery in Glasgow and will have some available on Fridays!

Use it or lose it – please go in and ask for Challah. Advance orders also possible.

GLJC walked away with the Intercommunity Cyber Quiz shield for the 2nd year in a row.  Thanks to Steve and Sue Brisk for hosting the event for GLJC, and to South Buckinghamshire Jewish Community for organising the entire event and providing all the techie resources.

On 9th February 2013 Jill Rosenheim was inducted as a Lay Reader for GLJC. The service followed the format of a Bat Mitzvah with the exception of fewer grandparents but more grandchildren. Jill was presented with a Yad in honour of the event and the of the vast and valued contribution she has made to the community.

Death & Bereavement

GLJC, in collaboration with Cheltenham Borough Council, has a consecrated Jewish cemetery with 70 burial plots at the Bouncers Lane Cemetery and Crematorium. This site is available for all Jewish persons as well as non-Jewish partners of Jewish persons.

GLJC is committed to providing support in the event of the death of any Jewish person in Gloucestershire. GLJC’s Burial Officer will ensure that a Rabbi or lay-leader is available to lead Jewish funeral (burial or cremation) services for the deceased in collaboration with the appointed funeral director, Ian George Funeral Directors, and the Bouncers Lane Cemetery manager.
