Rabbi Anna Gerrard grew up in the Masorti movement and became involved with Birmingham Progressive Synagogue while reading Theology as an undergraduate at Birmingham University. As a student Rabbi, she worked for Liberal Judaism running their Young Adults programme and served Gloucestershire Liberal Jewish Community. In July 2011, Anna was ordained by Leo Baeck College, having spent half of her studies in Jerusalem at the Conservative Yeshiva, Hebrew Union College, and Machon Schechter.
Rabbi Anna continues her work for GLJC as their Rabbi, the first female Rabbi in Gloucestershire, and the first Rabbi to be formally inducted into a post in Gloucestershire for over sixty years. She also works for Liberal Judaism as part of their Rabbinic Team, with specific responsibility for Outreach and Community Development.
Rabbi Anna is committed to dynamic, progressive Judaism that speaks to today’s Jew and is passionate about wild swimming.
